   'I am all for what is legal although I won't deny that I also like free stuff, because who doesn't right? But one thing I realized upon subscribing to HotStar is that I don't have to pay a lot just to download Marathi movies and watch them on my devices. They have the free subscription where you can actually access a lot of free movies, but of course, the premium subscription gives you an edge.'

Bollywood is shaking after the release of the Marathi movie Sairat! Hindi cinema or also known as Bollywood is the mainstream film industry in India. And after the release of Sairat in 2016, several articles surfaced, saying that Sairat is a ground-breaker. It veered away from the mainstream Hindi movie culture. The movie was made on a budget of only 580, 000 US dollars. Yet, it earned a total of 16 million US dollars at the end of its theatrical run! Sairat was then hailed as the highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. Did you know that although it was made on a tight budget, it was the first Indian film to record its music in Sony scoring state in California?

According to analysts, one of the biggest factors why this film was a hit is its unique plot, amplified by the unseasoned actors that starred in it. Yes, you read that right, the director Nagraj Manjule purposely chose unseasoned stars Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. He really wanted to bring out the rawness in the personalities of the two lead actors. His decision to choose young and unknown faces to star is one way of revolting against the tyranny of Bollywood’s corrupting star system. Despite the unfamiliarity of the audience with the leads, it created a ripple effect among them, especially in Maharashtra. An overwhelming number of audiences flocked to watch in Maharashtra! So much so that they had to add extra screens and set a special screening at 3 AM to cater to them! Ultimately, Rinku Ragjuru, the 14-year-old female lead, was awarded a National Film Award at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
